Job Summary
The Lead Pharmacist is an expert in the discipline of 340B pharmacy and applies advanced clinical and technical expertise while taking full ownership of difficult and complex assignments. Has a broad understanding of process, operational, regulatory and technical requirements of related work areas. Frequently performs in ambiguous situations and provides original or innovative guidance to others, occasionally setting new precedents. Encouraged to hold advanced certifications/licensures.
Work assignments involve complex to highly complex issues and requires problem resolution of non-standard and unique clinical or technical challenges. Independently determines objectives, methods, procedures, and priorities on new assignments; results are reviewed at key milestones. Collaborates with clinical professionals and management to identify, pursue and solve complex challenges.
Regularly provides day-to-day work guidance to others, with a focus on approach, prioritization, procedural guidance and quality checks. Leads the team on new processes, policies, and emerging regulations while providing oversight in completion of tasks. Guides teams to solve problems or issues including clarifying, interpreting, and analyzing complex information and developing recommendations for leadership consideration. Regularly provides instruction or education on processes, operational and technical guidance for clinical and inter-departmental collaboration. Often handles escalated issues.
Works with leadership to support the development of department strategy and operational objectives and align work processes to the department vision. Works with leadership to maintain compliance with all aspects of the 340B program. Assists leadership with monitoring and reporting quality, cost, production, and service standards. Works with leadership to identify opportunities to develop new processes, tools and services that impact projects, areas of specialization, the department, and the organization. Provides updates to leadership regarding team or operational performance, work progress, and quality.
Requirements
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy. Five plus years of experience preferred. Must have a thorough knowledge of drugs and their actions; knowledge of state and local regulations. License must be in good standing by the State Board of Pharmacy in state(s) of practice and/or possess multi-state licensure privileges as required by position.
