Company History
When Miner’s Hospital closed in the late 1950s, seventeen Cuyuna Range cities and townships joined together to build a new district hospital. They continue to support Cuyuna Regional Medical Center.
The communities have worked together to keep high quality healthcare local for nearly 50 years. Today, the campus has evolved into a high tech medical campus that offers an array of services to residents throughout the region.
In 2002, an 87,000 square foot expansion of the medical campus was completed. The clinic moved into a new, expanded location. Other components of the project included a state of the art surgery center, and expanded emergency, radiology, laboratory and rehabilitation departments. A retail pharmacy, Cuyuna Lakes Pharmacy was also added. Along with the expanded departments, new services such as full time cardiology care we also added in partnership with Minneapolis Heart Institute.
In 2003, CRMC formed the Minnesota Institute for Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIMIS). The formation of MIMIS demonstrated the long-standing commitment of CRMC and its surgeons to minimally invasive surgery. Today, over 60 surgical professionals perform a variety of both inpatient and outpatient procedures.
Groundbreaking began in October 2005 for a new 70,000 square foot addition and renovation. This project created an all new inpatient unit with private rooms, expanded areas for ICU and birthing, a new main entrance, expanded on-site retail pharmacy and more. Here, technology and comfort are melded together to provide patients with the best possible care.
In the spring of 2013, CRMC partnered with Minneapolis Heart Institute to break ground for a new medical office building in Baxter, Minnesota. The 22,000 square foot building is shared with CRMC and Minneapolis Heart Institute. Services by CRMC include family medicine, OB/GYN, podiatry, orthopaedics, a laboratory, and radiology. Additional medical specialties will also be offered at the Baxter Clinic in the future. The new clinic opened in December 2013.
